Following its acquisition in 2021 by the Chedid Capital Group, which specializes in reinsurance, ASCOMA has become one of the major players in the insurance sector in all the countries where the Group operates. Today, it remains the market leader in its field.

We are looking for a Technical Director for our subsidiary in Cameroon, based in Douala, on a permanent contract (CDI).
A true pillar of technical performance, the Technical Director oversees all of the company’s technical activities: underwriting/production, claims management, key accounts, and technically oriented commercial relations. They coordinate the teams within the operational departments, lead technical projects, contribute to the definition of product offerings, and develop relationships with insurance companies, reinsurers, and partners. As the guarantor of service quality, they ensure the company’s strong positioning and sustainable performance in its markets.

Main Responsibilities (non-exhaustive):
Technical Supervision and Coordination

Supervise and provide technical support to operational departments (underwriting/production, claims, sales) for both corporate and individual segments.
Unite teams around shared technical objectives and promote interdepartmental collaboration.
Lead the Key Accounts Production department and ensure technical consistency of offers.
Monitor policies in the portfolio: updating insured values, adjusting coverages, and restructuring where necessary.
Product Development and Technical Management

Design products aligned with market and client needs.
Analyze, distribute, and support teams on products offered by partner insurers.
Oversee responses to tenders and technical studies.
Implement statistical tools to analyze technical performance for clients and management.
Develop new partnerships with insurance companies and reinsurers.
Client Relationship and Commercial Performance Monitoring
Manage client accounts with high technical or strategic value.
Identify client needs and plan commercial visits based on portfolio specifics.

Analyze market trends and define medium-term technical strategies.

Contribute to setting technical objectives and allocating resources (budgets, HR, tools).
Team Management and Human Resources
Identify staffing needs and required organizational adjustments during management reviews.
Assess and support the development of teams’ technical skills.
Define technical training plans and recruit profiles aligned with the company’s ambitions.
Participate in recruitment for technical departments.

Organization and Quality

Structure technical departments in line with expected quality standards.

Define, formalize, and disseminate policies, procedures, and responsibilities within the quality management system.
Monitor quality indicators, analyze gaps, and lead improvement actions.
Actively participate in management meetings and quality committees.

Required Profile
Specialist in Property & Casualty Insurance (IARD)
Commercial skills are an advantage
Minimum 10 years of experience
Strong interest in reinsurance
Proven leadership to organize and/or reorganize teams
Ability to train and support staff
Adaptability and patience
